“Behold the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD”[Amos 8:11]. This is a KJV Bible study guide. The world today needs the Word of God. Our world is in a total state of chaos, full of violence, hunger, greed, despair, and apathy. We have given up the true word of God and are suffering the consequences. We live in a cynical world that has no reverence toward a Higher Power. A world that says “we shall not have this man to reign over us”.Where is our faith, the true faith of our fathers? “Know ye therefore that they which areof faith, the same are the childrenof Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed”(Gal. 3:7-8). We are to be blessed through our faith in the God of our father, Abraham, but we have forgotten our faith in God. We have lost our vision. We have lost our hope. We have lost our future. Without God, the God of our forefathers, and the Bible that he gave us, there is no future. There is indeed a famine of the Word of God. He is not heard in our schools, our courts, our governments and sadly, to a large degree, not even in our churches. Our children have lost their virtue, their innocence, and their hope. Today it seems that what used to be called good is now bad, and what used to be called bad is now good. What a confusing world we have given to our children. Most people today have no discipline or patience. We react to any situation that doesn’t please us with anger and violence, i.e., road rage, fathers fighting at hockey games, people rioting in the streets because of canceled concerts or some other function. Any prayers that may be given at public events are now so general we have no idea to which god we are praying. Most people today do not even know the words to the Lord’s Prayer.Still, there is hope. For these things are just further signs that we are living in “the last days, the days immediately before our LORD’s return. I love the words from Psalm 46: 10 “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”To those of us who know God’s word we must be still and listen to the “still small voice” that guides us. I listen almost daily to a lovely song by Twila Paris called “I Will Listen”. One of the verses in the song is, “This is the faith, patience to wait when there is nothing clear. Nothing to see, still we believe Jesus is very near. I cannot imagine what will come, but I’ve already made my choice, this is where I stand until he moves me on, and I will listen to His voice.” It is so inspiring! God is about to deal with all that is wrong in this world. We have his assurance of this, “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction”(2 Peter 2:1). We can see that the whole world is moaning and groaning for release from all that is happening to it. We must pray for this world and our Israel nations to repent soon, as the time is short and we must turn back to the God of our fathers and his Word soon as to escape all that is about to happen on the earth just before the return of our Lord Jesus.“He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be”(Rev. 22:11-12). That day is coming very’ soon and we must pray that many will be awakened to their identity and their salvation in Jesus Christ our Lord and his coming kingdom on this earth. Amen.
